2024年の今季も圧倒的な強さを見せつけているフィラデルフィア・フィリーズというチーム。
この球団にはドジャースにも負けないスタープレイヤーが数多く在籍し、今シーズンの現時点ではナショナルリーグの中でドジャースの勝率を超えるメジャー屈指の強豪チームという結果を残している。
そしてこのフィリーズに所属しているアレク・ボームという選手は、スタープレイヤーの陰に隠れながらも近年頭角を表しチームの大きな戦力になっている今ではフィリーズには欠かせない重要なプレイヤーの一人になった男だ。
主にサードとファーストを守っているボームは2020年のシーズン中盤にメジャーデビューを果たし、デビュー後の数年間はまずまずの結果を残しながらもスタープレイヤーの多いフィリーズの中では特別目立った選手ではなかった。
ただ大きく彼が変わったのは2023年の昨シーズンの事。
元々、持っているポテンシャルは高いと評価されスター選手になれる逸材と言われていたが、昨年はついにその才能が開花するようなシーズンになった。
