ギャレット・クロシェというピッチャーは、メジャーデビューする前から当たり前のように160キロを超える豪速球を投げ多くのメディアに注目されていた生粋のメジャー球界を代表する豪腕投手の一人。
彼が現在扱う球種は全部で4球種。
投球割合の半分以上を占める球威抜群のフォーシームを軸にカットボールやスライダー、チェンジアップを扱っている。
中でもやはりクロシェの最大の武器といえばフォーシームで、特徴的なピッチングフォームから投げる左の豪速球は、真っ直ぐのボールといえど十分に空振りが取れるメジャートップクラスのフォーシームだ。
今では100マイルを超えるボールを投げることはほとんどないが、それでも現在でもファストボールの平均球速は97マイル約156kmと自慢の豪速球で打者を圧倒している。
現在メジャーで一番三振を奪っているクロシェの奪三振率は12.52という数字で、これは先発ピッチャーとしては勿論メジャー最高クラスの数字。
さらにこれまで制球力に難があると言われてきたクロシェだが今シーズンはピッチングの内容も安定しフォアボールを出す確率は大幅に減っている。長い間クロシェはトミージョンの影響や故障で満足に投げることができなかったが今シーズンは万全の状態でシーズンを過ごし、ホワイトソックスの重要なピッチャーの一人としてチームに大きく貢献している。
