After the Brewers took the first 2 of the series, they looked for the sweep tonight in hopes of gaining one more game on the Cubs in their fight for the NL Central. The Cubs got on the board first with a big 4th inning, scoring 4 in the frame. Daniel Murphy, Ben Zobrist, and Wilson Contreras all drove in runs, with a few costly errors by the Brewers bringing in 1 more. After trading a run in the middle innings, the Cubs got up 6-1 on a Kyle Schwarber solo shot in the 6th. Even with the big lead, the Brewers would not go quietly. Jonathan Schoop got one back in the 6th on a groundout, and recent acquisition Curtis Granderson hit a pinch hit 2-run homerun an inning later to make it a 6-4 game. Pedro Strop came in for the save in the 9th, but Milwaukee did not make it easy on him. After allowing the first two to get on, he was able to Eric Thames, Lorenzo Cain, and Granderson in order to hold on for the win.
